Vintage Fashion Guide: Fall Vintage Jackets and Vintage Blazers

Even though the summer season is officially over, there’s no reason why you can’t still look haute. Vintage fall blazers should be a staple in every fashion forward woman’s closet, but don’t feel bad if you’re just getting the memo. There are still plenty of places to shop, and endless ways to rock that perfect vintage fall blazer.
It is NOT recommended that you run out to your local Goodwill and grab the first tweed blazer (complete with elbow pads) that you spot in effort to expand your wardrobe. Instead, consider your personal style. Vintage fall jackets can be categorized by decade, designer, fabric or style. Lovers of 70s chic looks will definitely appreciate the pattern-heavy, velour, cropped style of blazers that dominated this era.
Vintage fall blazers that originated in the ‘60s still ooze coy sex appeal in an ever-so-subtle way. More than likely, you’ll actually need to go out and try on a few different blazers before finding ones that match your signature style. And after you run like a wild woman, feet pounding the cool concrete while clutching ‘The Precious,’ you’ll probably realize that you have nothing to go with it. Bummer.
Perfecting the art of styling and profiling with vintage fall jackets requires you to be authentic. In other words, don’t try to fake it. If you just throw your blazer over a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, you’ll look, well, thrown together. Find a couple of nice tops, some tasteful jewelry, and call it a day. After you’ve given your look the final approval, exit stage left and prepare for a round of applause.
Feel free to recycle your vintage blazers to create different ensembles, but please, for the love of Lilith, do not wear the same jacket everyday. That is, unless your signature style is called ‘painfully predictable.’ A handful of blazers will suffice. Just make certain that they are carefully selective and truly complimentary to your fall collection.
